CASTING IN THE CLASSROOM
- USE OUR FOUNDRY IN A BOX RESOURCE TO BRING CASTING TO LIFE
- RESOURCES AND IDEAS FOR TEACHERS AND LECTURERS
- SCALABLE FOR ONE LESSON OR LONGER-TERM DESIGN PROJECTS
We aim to provide resources to help you to teach casting as part of your science or design & technology curriculum. We have a kit that can be used by your foundry local to you to demonstrate the process.
The casting process uses maths, physics and chemistry to help design and manufacture the components that we need in everyday life and is part of the engineering and manufacturing industry.
We make many of the metal parts used in cars, planes and trains, so bring your lessons to life with real world examples taken from the castings industry.
Resources include:
- Includes all the kit that your local foundry will need for a demonstration of the casting process in your school
- Resources and ideas for teachers and lecturers. Suitable for primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities
- Safety kit included
- Scalable for one lesson or longer term design projects and using safe, low melting point metal alloy
- We’ll help to find a foundry local to you and who will work with you on educational or community-based projects using cast or additively manufactured parts
- Speakers from industry to enthuse your students about the casting & foundry industry as part of the manufacturing supply chain
- Careers and employability information for those interested in a career in engineering
